I wanted to do a 3D version of the Kowloon Walled City. Since I'm not particularly mad, I'm attempting just a small courtyard with a tree on one wall.

I'm working from reference images and this is what I used to create these basic templates:
Kowloon Apartments

I'm trying to create modular pieces so that I don't have to create massive amounts of unique geometry. The following images are in order of progression. That said, here's what I have so far:

BASIC ROOM

I have a lot of work ahead of me but it's a start. I'm still trying to figure out how to do modular architecture so any tips would be appreciated. I'll be working on textures and my tree next.

I missed class the week before last due to hardware issues with my computer and on Friday evening those same issues reared their ugly heads again. I've just wrestled control of my PC back and I'll be posting some updates tomorrow once I have some more work done.

This sucks-I was really hoping to have some texture work done for class on Tuesday :(

Jason, if you're reading this, you should know that I didn't forget what you told me in class. I'll have a more "macro view" take on this coming tomorrow and I haven't been as picky and detail-oriented as before (at least, not in the bad way). I'm working on a "look-and-feel" illustration to see where I want to go with this, flesh out some of the silhouettes that I want to push and get a sense of mood going.

This is my first pass at the street level.

I'm trying to get it to look a bit more cluttered and chaotic. I have some ideas of how to make everything look a little less "square" that I'll be trying out next.
