Hi everyone, I know I'm a little late to the game, but here are some of my character designs. I'm going to watch the first lecture soon and make some more characters. I had a problem with giving them a good line of actoin and sense of balance. Please give me some feed back!

Here is my first attempt at some environment studies, they are pretty wonky. I'll try to get some more done tomorrow!!

You've done a lot of work here, but everything is so rough, it's hard to give great advice past telling you to check out the critique center and see what applies to your work as well, and then take a couple of pieces to completion. We'll have lots more help to give once you've pushed to stretch your skill level. I'd recommend taking a character sketch like number 6 and following it through with color and texture, but not before you explore the silhouette a bit, and get some serious reference since its a bit mushy.

Keep going!! :)

Hey Horia thanks for the comment!! I took your advice and worked on flushing out some of the poses. Working with texutres was very rough for me, but I'll try to get the hang of it! I'm working on pose 6 tonight and will have it up later. If anyone wants to tell me which character works the best I'll go in and rework the color and polish it up. Thanks!     By the way the last character is my attempt at the future robot gladiator thing haha

Hey Pat,

Wow have you been busy! Good job though kicking up all that work. I love that first pose you have that you ran with after Horia's advice. I'd definitely like to see that more rendered. And that last environment thumbnail of that large forest area is looking really good. I can picture a nice looking "treehouse village" in it or something.

@Cameron: Thanks a lot for the Comment! i would like to push both the character and that environment further, but I don't know how much stuff I'll be getting done in the next week. I've got finals coming up, which means a lot of work haha.

Here are some sketchs I did using the custom shapes. I'm having a hard time with them. Number 3 was the one where I thought I started to kind of get the hang of it.

Here's another crack at custom shapes in combination with the bursh and smudge tool.

First of all Richard's lecture was awesome! Here is an experiment of what I did, trying to mimic his process during the end of the lecture. Hopefully there will be a lot more to come later in the week

Finals are almost done here so I'm pretty pumped! Here are some more book cover-ish compositions. Let me know what you think.

im lovin the book cover pics. you've captured that 'bleeding' effect quite nicely on the left pic.

The only thing i think its lacking, is detail or variation in colours. Im sure you're going to experiment anywayz so i cant wait to see how they finally turn out.
