Hey all

I recently started working again on a centaur model I started while attending Futurepoly. It's still in the Zbrush phase but nearly ready to to retopologize, just need to put in some more detail and give him braided beard and do something with his hair plus some gnarly scars. I also wanted to give hime some small pieces of armor, maybe bracers and belt, shoulder pads, stuff like that.

Any thoughts on whether I should do his armour as part of the model or separate?

Comments and crits always welcome

Cheers

Dan

Looking pretty good. The face came out very nice but the body looks a bit blobby to me. As for whether or not to do the armor in the same file, I usually see people sculpt them as subtools in the same ZBrush file but it's personal preference really. I would think it would be easier to get the proportions right and have it fit the piece better if it's sculpted in the same file though.

You should post this over at Polycount if you want to get some proper anatomical crits from people and some better opinions on workflow. The character artists there would be able to help you out a lot more than I could since I don't really do any character art.

 Hey Kiefen

Thanks for the comments. I'm gonna start putting my stuff up on other forums like Polycount soon for crit and feedback, thanks man. Here's a quick update on Centaur, just finished off his face and other small details, also here's a shot of another mug I'm working on. Not sure where I'm going with it yet, just started messing with a Zsphere, enjoying the process of sculpting, we'll see what it ends up as...

Cheers

Dan

Hi all

Quick update on what I'm working on. Centaur dude is shelved for now. Working on Demon character which i'll see through to completion, textured etc. Just fleshing out anatomy now, he's hornless at this point (poor guy...) and hands/feet need to be finished. All comments/crits welcome :)

Cheers

Dan

this stuffs looking great Dan. I'd focus a little more on the crouch anatomy on the Demon dude. Most pro portfolios have good high poly demon junk :) I want to see one of these finished!!

Hey Jason!!

Great to hear from you man! Hope you're keeping well. Thanks for the constructive feedback...  ;)  I'm working on his demonic tackle as a separate file cause it's really poly heavy, keeps crashing my laptop :P

More updates to follow soon!
